Who We Are

Reconciliation rooted in Christ.

An intentional multiethnic community.
Irvington Covenant is a place to journey together in understanding who God is and how He is calling us to live.

CORE VALUES:

  • Cultivation of Faith in Jesus Christ
  • Dynamic Expressions of Worship
  • Transformation Powered By Grace
  • Eclectic Community
  • Spirit-Driven Service

WHAT WE  BELIEVE:

GOD
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who together form the Trinity. This Triune God reigns and rules over His creation as Lord and King.

JESUS CHRIST
We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal son of God, was incarnate on earth as fully God and fully man. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, where at the right hand of God he is now our High Priest and Advocate.

HOLY SPIRIT
We believe that the Holy Spirit dwells within each believer, enabling the Christian to walk in obedience to the Word of God. The Holy Spirit also empowers us to become more like our Lord Jesus and equips us with spiritual gifts for ministry.

SALVATION
We believe that by the shedding of His blood on the cross, Jesus provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Christ’s sufficient atonement for our sin makes the gift of salvation possible when people place their faith in the Savior who died and rose from the dead.

THE BIBLE
We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God without error, and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. We believe the entire Bible to be the complete revelation of God’s will for the salvation of men and women, and the divine and final authority for all matters of Christian life and faith.

MANKIND
We believe that men and women were created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result of their rebellion against God, men and women are dead in their sins, and incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own effort alone.

THE CHURCH
We believe that the Church is the diverse and yet intimately united living Body of Christ on earth; Christ is its head and source of life. The Body is composed of those who have received him personally. The Church exists to celebrate the wonderfully creative living God, cultivate personal growth in Christ, love one another in Christ, and communicate Christ to the world through words and deeds.

THE CHRISTIAN LIFE
We believe that every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.
